About us
In 1962, four private partners founded a specialist foundry dedicated to producing wear-resistant components for the crushing industry. Initially employing 30 staff, the company has grown steadily over time, now boasting a workforce of 270 and an annual production capacity exceeding 20,000 tonnes.
From the 1990s onwards, F.A.R. S.p.A. has pursued a continuous programme of development and growth, focusing on the research of innovative materials and new applications for its products. This strategic direction aims to meet evolving market demands and deliver tangible benefits for its customers, including increased hourly throughput, reduced waste, and improved final material quality.
This intensive R&D activity has led to several patents, including:
- WRI insert technology, developed to extend the lifespan of martensitic steel and high-chromium cast iron hammers
- Special MNX manganese steel, an innovative chemical composition designed to improve the work-hardening process of manganese steel
- Manganese steel with inserts, a targeted formulation aimed at further improving the performance of Mn steels
F.A.R.’s commitment goes beyond research focused on market-ready products and extends to its own production processes. Over the years, the company has introduced targeted technologies and automation systems to improve internal working conditions and achieve ever-greater consistency and quality in production. This approach involves the deployment of custom-made robots for mechanical processing stages, the use of collaborative robots (COBOTs) to assist with heavy finishing operations on cast components, and the implementation of a foundry process automation project currently in progress, due for completion over the next three years.
