Manganese Steel
combines excellent
wear resistance with
long service life.
In any heavy industry, but especially in mining and quarrying operations, several variables influence the type, process, and progression of wear on parts. By optimizing the chemical composition and manufacturing process of wear parts, FAR has developed the innovative MNX™ manganese steel, which combines the high toughness typical of 18% manganese steel with the presence of hard particles in the austenitic matrix.
Superior service life
In all applications where significant abrasion is expected, standard manganese steels fail to achieve sufficient work-hardening hardness to ensure long service life.
MNX™ steel, on the other hand, offers an average 35% longer service life, reaching 100% longer duration in mining and quarrying operations, thanks to the presence of hard particles within the austenitic matrix. This type of manganese steel has demonstrated excellent durability even in highly humid environments, where wear is greater for standard manganese steels.
- MNX™ self-adapting steel increases productivity.
- Service life increases by an average of 35%.
Specifications
For an infinite range of applications in the crushing industry.
Features
- Castings with increased abrasion resistance.
- Patented base with homogeneous dispersions of hard phases (3,000 HV).
- The hard phases are uniformly distributed throughout the matrix and not along the grain boundaries where they would cause brittleness.
- Standard manganese toughness, suitable for all heavy-duty applications.
